What’s Going On

Obstruction Pinfold Hill

Following the building of a traffic island in Pinfold Hill, a large number of the community are asking questions, who’s done that and why.

Firstly the Parish Council were not consulted or new anything about it until the morning of 16th September 2011 when the building work started. They also objected to the property being built in the first place.

This is North Yorkshire Highways dept’s solution to the owner not spending his own money to move the Telecom box. Effectively he’s bought a piece of our road; with North Yorkshire County Council highways dept consent to save himself money.

So how do you feel. We need feedback to mount a campaign to get rid of this intrusion into our community by someone who doesn’t even live here.

I have informed the press HERE with the document HERE I also wrote to my MP Nigel Adams. You can also write to the press and your MP and complain.

You can complain to Selby DC planning dept HERE

You can raise it as an issue at the Community Engagement Forum HERE MENU Eastern Area CEF  MENU  Raise your issue.

But drop me an e-mail HERE if you think we should get a petition against it.

YOU do nothing then nothing will change.

Planning Information

Here is some information to dispel wrong information being circulated around the village.

Property Boundaries

If your boundary is adjacent to the highway then the height restriction is 1 metre. Should you want to go higher, then you need planning permission.

If your property boundary is not adjacent to the highway (like a field) then the height restriction is 2 metres. If you want to go higher than that, again you need planning permission.

Anyone can raise an issue by filling in the Form HERE and submitting to Selby DC

Property Driveways

If you re-surface your driveway to the front of your property with an impermeable surface (Flags etc) and it is more than 5 square metres. Then under Town & Country Planning permitted development (2008) you must make prevision for drainage to be returned to your property.

Example. You must provide a gully between your property and the highway/footpath to return runoff to your property and NOT allow it to run into the highway drainage system.

Anyone can raise an issue by filling in the Form HERE and submitting to Selby D.C.

In providing this information, please understand there can be other overriding issues appertaining to a property, but the basic information is correct.

SPEEDING on Selby Road

Do we have a problem on Selby Road with speeding cars. Some residents are concerned for the safety of people; in particular children, walking into the village along Selby Road. So much so they are prepared to do something about it by raising an issue with the Community Engagement Forum.

You could show your support by submitting an issue HERE MENU Eastern Area CEF  MENU  Raise your issue.  This will put pressure on the Police to do more.

DOG WALKER BEWARE!!!!!

I have just been informed (30/9/11) of some bags of poisons dumped in the ditch on the right as you walk past the pond towards the river. The bags have been removed now, but please be aware regarding your dogs running on ahead sniffing around.

Non-Emergency
